Notice of Liability for Participation in Fraud Schemes as a Dropper
Dear Clients,
“Alatau City Bank” Joint Stock Company hereby informs you that criminal liability has been introduced for participation in fraudulent schemes as a dropper .
In accordance with clause 14 of Article 25 of the Law "On Payments and Payment Systems", the following actions are prohibited for bank customers:
1) Granting access to a bank account, payment instrument, or identification means, or transferring such to third parties, resulting in access by those parties to carry out payments and money transfers, except when such access is granted to a spouse or close relatives, or to other persons in cases established by law;
2) Making payments and money transfers using a bank account, payment instrument, or identification means belonging to third parties, except for a spouse or close relatives, or in other cases established by law;
3) Making payments and money transfers on behalf of or in favor of a third party in exchange for material compensation or property-related benefits.
Violation of these provisions is subject to criminal liability under Article 232-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provides for penalties ranging from a monetary fine to restriction or deprivation of liberty for up to 5 years, with confiscation of property.
Additionally, unlawful acquisition of access to manage a bank account, payment instrument, or identification means for the purpose of carrying out unauthorized payments or money transfers is punishable by restriction of liberty for a term of 3 to 7 years, or imprisonment for the same term, with confiscation of property.
🚫 Being a dropper means:
- Handing over your bank card, current account, e-wallet, or registering as an individual entrepreneur for use by fraudsters;
- Receiving money from unknown sources into your account and forwarding it to others in exchange for compensation.
Such actions may be qualified as a criminal offense, which, under current legislation, entails criminal liability, including penalties in the form of restriction or deprivation of liberty.
Recommendations for protection:
- Never share your login credentials, passwords, cards, or codes with third parties.
- Do not agree to “easy money” schemes involving money transfers.
- Report any suspicious offers from third parties to the Bank immediately.
