Alatau City Bank and Binance Kazakhstan are launching cryptocurrency payments via QR codes and POS terminals
Alatau City Bank, in partnership with Binance Kazakhstan – the locally regulated subsidiary of the leading blockchain ecosystem Binance in Kazakhstan – launched the Crypto Pay service (powered by Binance Pay). This partnership enables Binance Kazakhstan users to pay for goods and services using cryptocurrency via QR codes and POS terminals within the acquiring network of Alatau City Bank. The new service makes using digital assets in everyday life just as simple and convenient as traditional cashless payments.
The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s regulatory sandbox, which enables the implementation of innovative financial solutions under the regulator’s supervision whilst ensuring a high level of security and compliance with current legislation.
The service was first presented to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during his visit to the Alem.ai Artificial Intelligence Centre. Today, the project is moving from a technology demonstration to a full-scale launch, offering users a new way to use digital assets for everyday purchases.
For businesses, using the new service remains just as simple and familiar as ever. Business owners do not need to set up cryptocurrency wallets, understand the intricacies of how digital assets work, or change their existing payment infrastructure. Funds are automatically converted into tenge and credited to a bank account, whilst the merchant receives exactly the amount stated on the receipt, regardless of fluctuations in the cryptocurrency exchange rate. This enables companies to offer their customers yet another modern payment method, whilst maintaining their usual business processes and completely eliminating currency risks.
Particularly important is the fact that the service is already compatible with Alatau City Bank’s existing acquiring network. Business owners who already use the bank’s POS terminals can start accepting cryptocurrency payments without having to purchase additional equipment or undertake complex technical integration. New partners simply need to sign up for acquiring services with Alatau City Bank, after which the service becomes available automatically.
«By launching crypto payments, we are moving towards a future in which digital assets become a natural part of the everyday economy, and using them to pay for goods and services is just as simple, secure and familiar as cashless bank payments.
Our aim is to break down the barriers between the traditional financial system and the digital asset market. Users can pay for purchases directly in cryptocurrency without having to convert their assets themselves or withdraw funds from a crypto exchange, whilst businesses continue to receive payments in tenge almost instantly, without having to change their usual business processes.
We are confident that the development of such solutions will contribute to the wider adoption of digital assets in the real economy, accelerate the development of the payments industry, and create new opportunities for businesses, users and the financial market overall.» - said Ulan Khakim, Managing Director for Digital Assets at Alatau City Bank.
«At Binance, we are consistently expanding the practical applications of digital assets. The launch of Crypto Pay (Powered by Binance Pay) in Kazakhstan marks an important milestone in the development of the local Binance ecosystem, enabling users to utilise cryptocurrency not only as an investment tool, but also as a convenient means of payment for everyday goods and services. Our aim is to make digital assets an accessible part of the modern financial infrastructure, combining the benefits of cryptocurrencies with familiar payment scenarios and creating even more opportunities for users and businesses,» said Nurkhat Kushimov, General Manager of Binance Kazakhstan.
